What constitutes "unrecognized USB driver "?
On every boot, I get 10 warnings (5 pairs) logged in the System Event Log - one shown below. This is caused by hcmon.sys which is used by VMware Player to detect changes in host USB ports. A search revealed that there are no references to hcmon.sys - no .cat or .inf files. Why is Windows complaining - because there is no .cat of .inf files? The hcmon.sys file is signed but 'signtool verify' says the certificate path does not end in a trusted provider. Is this the problem? Removing the file from the System32\drivers stops the warnings, but, of course, creates errors about missing file. Any suggestions as to how to eliminate these warnings? Thanks and enjoy, John. EDIT: I am running W7 x64 Ultimate with SP1 and current updates. Hi, This seems to be relevant to VMware product, we have no such more resources to troubleshoot a third-party product, but I would like to share the following workarounds with you, which comes from the VMware KB: VMware KB: Configuring Windows Hosts for Use with USB Monitors (Sniffers) Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice.
